SLAY Festival

Listen. 2017 is the not the year for poverty, stress and worrying about stretch marks. We're rebuking it weeks in advance so you know we're serious.

2017 is going to be the year we unapologetically celebrate ourselves, flaws and all. It is the year that we decide to go after what we want and focus on achieving the goals we’ve been putting off for far too long. It’s the year that we make connections with positive people who are going to support and encourage us to live our dreams.

khaled1

We’re putting our money where our mouths are and creating an incredible experience to help you kick off your year in style, get your mind right, and connect with the dopest people across Africa.

welcome-to-slay festival

SLAY Festival is a one day celebration of all things incredible, magical, innovative, and entrepreneurial about us and we aren't afraid to show it.

What can you expect from the SLAY Festival?

  • Innovators who are going to keep it real on how they found success and you can too. This won’t be a talk shop – we will be spilling the tea, milo, coffee or whatever it is you like to sip on.
  • Activities that are fun and actually help your life. Want to learn how to build your own virtual reality app, we got you. Want to connect with the most popular beauty bloggers, we got you too. Want to try 7 different types of jollof rice just because that’s your one true love, don’t worry, we got you boo.
  • A marketplace with the best products and most delicious foods from young entrepreneurs who need your support.
  • Opportunities to connect directly with small business experts to learn how to maximize your business in 2017.
  • Fresh artists and hot jams that will have you two stepping around the festival grounds all day long.
  • Goodies on goodies on goodies. It will actually be appropriate for you to do take away here…with the goodies not the food. Please don’t embarrass us in front of the cameras.
  • A chance to bask in your greatness around other incredible people. You’re welcome.

Getting paid in the Media industry
12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
We're bringing together an amazing panel of women who're exploiting opportunities in the media from different angles. So whether you're interested in being a director, a producer, a studio owner/ tech entrepreneur or an actress, there's something for you here. Panellists include Kemi Adetiba (Director) and Mary Remy Njoku (Nollywood Actress and Producer). Kemi Adetiba is a Nigerian music video director, filmmaker, and television director whose works have appeared on Channel O, MTV Base, Soundcity TV and BET. She started out professionally as a radio presenter with Rhythm 93.7 FM and then moved into TV as a presenter for shows such as Studio 53. After years of success being in front of the camera, Adetiba enrolled into the New York Film Academy to learn the ropes about being behind the cameras and today, her bodies of work as a director are spread across the African continent and beyond its borders. She's the amazing director behind "The Wedding Party" (a Nigerian Rom-com film) which premiered on the opening night of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), Mary Njoku is a former Nollywood actress and the founder of ROK studios - a Nigerian film production company associated with iROKOtv. She's produced well over 20 movies and supports tech entrepreneurs through SPARK capital alongside her husband Jason Njoku.
