Who is Ibiwari Omoifo?

I am Ibiwari Omoifo, I grew up in Rivers State, Nigeria. I am a Civil Engineer cum Coating Inspector by trade and an Entrepreneur. I am married to a wonderful man, I love travelling and cooking.

Describe your typical day?

I wake up around 5:00 AM, say a prayer with my husband and then do my affirmations. Then I plan my day and get my team ready for work. Once we’re open, I spend my days (if not on site) learning and planning content  for the business’ social media pages. I monitor the business activities and show up where necessary. I end my days with physical exercise such as swimming, yoga or taking a walk.

What is your favorite aspect of being an entrepreneur?

Receiving acknowledgement and recognition for my work such as having SLA choose my business for HGCP and positive customer feedback. I also love being able to control my time and work at my own pace.

What is your bottom line?

To be honest, I love money (who doesn’t) and I love working for my money. I love the things money gives me like a good life, travelling and helping others. I also love seeing myself become a better version of me everytime through learning.

Tell us about your business.

BoleBoxx is a grill house located in Lekki, Lagos State. We embrace tradition and present local delicacies as we serve proteins such as poultry, seafood, roasted yams, plantains and sweet potatoes the local way. We also cater to events and large gatherings.

You can find us on Google search at BoleBoxx or on our website at http://www.boleboxx.com.ng.

Have you always been entrepreneurial?

My whole life, I’ve always known that I wanted to sell something. My dad is a businessman and I recall talking to him about starting a business. He said, “Ibi, if you want to start a business, choose to address one of these three things, where people live, what they wear and what they eat.’

After my first business failed, I spent time observing and learning from other entrepreneurs and when I started up again, I made sure I was ready with a plan. I also did some heavy networking to put my brand out there.

What has been a make or break moment in your entrepreneurial journey?

Having previously worked in the white collar environment, I struggled to relate with my staff which was daunting. I had to learn to better communicate with my staff because understanding the people you’re leading makes you an effective leader.

How have you carved a niche for yourself in your industry?

Our business prides itself in our excellent customer service. We always keep our customers top of mind, and we do this by remaining consistent with our brand promise. We abide by our SOPs regarding food measurements, quality, etc.

What challenges have you faced as a young female founder?

Poor state of infrastructure, inconsistent government policies, an unstable economy and finding good hands who understand the businesses goal have been some of the challenges I faced.

Where do you see your business in the next 5 years?

In five years my business will be empowering a lot of people because we plan on setting up new branches and using technology to reach more customers and also empower our staff.

What’s the best advice you have received in business?

Grow your business organically – figure out what works for your business and improve on that.

What is your favorite book?
